About Spider
edit_squareTable of Contents
Spider is a supporting character in Animation vs. Minecraft Shorts, originating from Monster School. Unlike most spiders seen in the series, Spider plays a recurring and significant role in the story, becoming part of Red’s team and participating in major battles.
Appearance
Spider looks like a typical Minecraft spider but distinguishes himself with elbow-like articulation and a yellow bandana wrapped around his head, denoting his membership in the Yellow Team.
Personality & Traits
Spider’s personality in AVM Shorts is a departure from his original version in Willcraft’s Monster School. While the original Spider was kind and confident—sometimes overly so due to his skills—the AVM version is a bit more abrasive and snarky. Despite this rough exterior, he maintains a close friendship with Skellington and Endie and proves himself a reliable teammate when the stakes are high.
Though initially clumsy and loud when trying to sneak around, Spider gradually becomes more adept at using his web-based abilities, learning to rely on mobility through web-slinging rather than just skittering across terrain.
Powers & Abilities
Fast Runner: While not the fastest in his class, Spider showed decent speed during the Monster School running lesson, outpaced only by quicker mobs like the cave spider Cavell.
Webbing: Spider’s web is long-range and impressively strong—strong enough to restrain Ghist, the largest student in the class. As the series progresses, he utilizes his web more frequently for movement and support in combat.
Improvised Tactics: Though not the stealthiest, Spider makes up for it with improvisation and support, often helping to trap or disable enemies mid-fight.

Trivia
Spider and the Warden are the only characters outside of the stick figures to wield King Orange’s fifth staff.
While his AVM Shorts counterpart is gruffer than in the original Monster School animations, Spider’s core dynamic with Skellington and Endie remains intact, showcasing a team-based camaraderie built through shared struggle.
Despite his rough edges, Spider is shown to care deeply for his friends and is always ready to jump into the fray.
